Georgia repeats as National Champions!!!

URI gymnasts urge donations to keep program alive.

The University of Rhode Island gymnastics team is working to keep the program going at least at the club level by calling for donations to the a specific account of the URI Foundation. Donations may allow the team to afford club status, or even potentially varsity status again at a later date.

A lot has happened since ECAC's a few weeks ago, with regionals on the horizon here's a brief summary of the past few weeks especially involving New England the northeastern teams.

Individual event specialists included UNH’s Helena Diodati on Vault and the Uneven Bars. On the Beam, Diodati’s teammate Taryn LaFountain qualified, and on the Floor Molly Moyer from Pitt qualified. UNH also produced three alternates, Justine Turner (Vault), Rebekah Porter (Bars), Chelsea Steinberg (Beam) and D3 Brockport’s Lauren Gildemeyer was an alternate on Floor.

URI Announces sudden cut of gymnastics team on January 31st.

Despite outcry from the team, parents, community, and the gymnastics world in general, the administration is still planning to cut the team and replace it with a women's lacrosse team.

The Ram Gymnasts have continued to perform despite the cuts and have scored well in their meets since the announcement and are moving towards the home finale this friday.

Notice of potential bias: While this site will describe the events that occur with as neutral voice as possible, the owner is 100 percent behind the team's efforts to save their team and believes that the university should reverse the decision. This does not violate my impartiality pledges as I still do not favor any gymnastics team over any other regarding wins, losses, awards, titles, recruiting et cetera, but I do support the existence of all collegiate gymnastics teams.

Nothing until the 2008-2009 season!

Correction one: It is very likely that I have misidentified certain "front handsprings" as "front handspring walkouts", if you encounter a front handspring walkout within a preview or a report, it is likely in reference to some sort of front handspring, but likely not a front handspring walkout. My apologies for the confusion. I am working to correct the references within the site.

All efforts are made to be as accurate as possible, however if mistakes have been made I want to know therefore any and all corrections are welcome and encouraged at the following email address;
