Rhode Island wins over Brown, Bridgeport, SCSU.
By David F.P. March 14th, 2008. (Still waiting on Troester scores. Move analysis to come later as well.) (Final score courtesy Brown Sports Information.)

It was before a fairly big crowd that four familiar New England teams would meet up in the Pizzitola center on Brown’s campus. Rhody’s been on a bit of a tear this year, winning or performing very well in every meet they’ve been in, and their visit to Brown also brought them a victory. Brown was very hospitable presenting the team with roses and honoring them before the meet. The Bears have been very supportive of the Rams since URI Athletics announced that the team would be cut at the end of the season. Bridgeport made their second trip to Providence in as many weeks, and would be utilizing a lineup consisting mainly of gymnasts who were exhibitioning earlier in the season, or had lower slots in the lineup overall. Southern Connecticut was back in Rhode Island for a second week hoping to continue their good year and. The host Bears would have Jennifer Sobuta back in the lineup after missing her last week, and they really looked to be enjoying themselves out there as their rowdy, but amicable fans cheered them on. The enthusiasm reached the point that during floor routines, Assistant Coaches Ricky Harris and Alicia Sacramone would even be dancing along to the gymnast’s music as well. It was a festive mood to say the least from the Brown side.

In the end, URI would win with a 189.125, Brown did pretty well with a 186.550, and had fun doing it no less. SCSU rebounded from a 182 the week before to hit a 186.375, and Bridgeport put up a 178.025.

(When I get the scores and have time to review the moves I will be posting a more detailed analysis. Stay tuned!)
